Myths or Truths

Are silicones really harmful to hair or do they provide any benefit to it?
As a cosmetologist, I have been in the market for many years using products with this ingredient, really since I can remember, I have known them, my stylist colleagues have the same answer?
“If I prefer products have with soluble or volatile silicone.

"My hair looks good so far it has not damaged it, just like my clients" Yes
Silicones are a class of polymer, that is, they are compounds made up of simpler units that are grouped into chains. These units are called siloxanes because they contain silicon and oxygen.
They fulfill several functions: as an emollient, emulsifier, protector, surfactant... They soften the hair, give it shine, body and also improve the sensoriality of the products.
Silicones have component codes with their letters ending in -dimethicone, -dimethiconol and -siloxysilicate, and those containing the word -siloxane-.
There are different kinds of silicones:
1-the volatiles: residues disappear quickly when rinsed. 2-Soluble: these are also very compatible with water, in the same way they leave with the rinse. 3-Insoluble: they do not disappear with water (they are NOT RECOMMENDED)
Some people fear that silicones can build up in their hair over time and leave it looking a bit dull, or even heavy for particularly fine hair. And, since volume is often the ultimate goal for fine hair that limps easily, this may not be the best product for you.
However, if this is not the case for you, the good news is that silicones can really help if you want to create a smoother, shinier surface. After a study, it continues to show that silicones are not totally harmful or harmful to hair.
Today many products offer in the Market without silicone lie they hide that information.so don't be afraid trying with moderation y careful.
